Our sections

All young people welcome

At 1st Hartshorne we run sections for young people from age 6 to 14. Whatever age your child is, there is a place for them here.

We believe every young person deserves the chance to discover their potential — to make friends, try new things, and have a brilliant time doing it. Our volunteers are fully trained and DBS checked.

Based in Hartshorne near Swadlincote, we welcome families from across South Derbyshire and the North West Leicestershire border — including Woodville, Midway, Newhall, Church Gresley, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Blackfordby, Moira, Boundary, Repton and Ticknall.

What we do

Skills for life, every week

From outdoor adventures to team games, our weekly sessions are packed with hands-on things to do. Each section enjoys activities and challenges suited to their age, plus badge work, friendships and plenty of fun — all led by trained, DBS-checked volunteers.

Days out, camps and special events run alongside the regular programme, so there's always something to look forward to.

Camps and adventures

Outdoor skills, confidence and memories

Scouting is not just about weekly meetings. Our young people get the chance to camp, explore outdoors, learn practical skills and take part in adventures throughout the year.

From pitching tents to cooking outdoors and spending time with friends, camps are a brilliant way to build confidence and independence.
